Embrace your Contemporary Style

Contemporary style encompasses a range of styles developed in the latter half of the 20th century. Pieces feature softened and rounded lines as opposed to the stark lines seen in modern design. Interiors contain neutral elements and bold color, and they focus on the basics of line, shape and form.  Contemporary design refers to what is popular or used right now.

pg. 93 of Gone With The Gin Cocktails with a Hollywood Twist by Tim Federle

¼ ounce single malt scotch

1 egg white

2 ounces gin

1 ounce lemon juice

¾ ounce simple syrup*

2 dashes orange blossom water

2 ounces club soda

It’s showtime!  Coat the inside of a cocktail glass with scotch, dispose of the liquid, and set the glass aside.  Add all the remaining ingredients (except the club soda) to the shaker and dry shake for 10 seconds.  Add a handful of ice to the shaker and shake for an additional few seconds. Strain into the cocktail glass and top with the club soda.

*Simple Syrup:

For easy, at home simple syrup, boil 1 part water to 2 parts sugar, until it reduces to –you guessed it- syrup.  Bottle, refrigerate, and enjoy within a month.
